Amazon has redesigned its whole Kindle family for 2026. The standard Kindle is available now from $149.99 with lockscreen ads. The Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature and Colorsoft Signature are preorder-only, with an Oct 28 release date. Prices below were re-checked at 6:24 AM ET Oct 12, 2026.

This is a product launch, not a discount. We saw no sale badge or deal on the listings we checked.

What changed

Amazon says every new Kindle has a flush-front display with no raised border, plus a thinner, lighter body. Colors now wrap from front to back, and the lineup adds Ube, Alpine Sky, Seaglass Green and Graphite, with Fig for the first time on an e-reader.

The standard Kindle has a 6-inch display. Amazon lists 16GB of storage, up to six weeks of battery life and 30% faster book opening than the last model. It is also available with an aluminum back.

What we could not confirm

We did not test any of the new Kindles, so every spec here is Amazon's claim. Release dates can change on Amazon's listings. We did not check price history, so we make no claim that any price is a low.
