Discovery+ raised its US plan prices on Oct. 13, its price-change page says. The ad-supported plan rose $1 to $6.99 a month, and the ad-free plan rose $2 to $11.99, plus applicable taxes. Variety reported the same prices. They apply immediately to new subscriptions.

What changed

Variety says the increase came one week after Paramount closed its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, forming a combined company. It adds that the combined company is keeping its streaming services as they were before the merger for now.

Variety, citing a source familiar with the situation, says the increase was planned several months before the merger closed. The Los Angeles Times says a company spokesperson confirmed that, and calls it the service's second increase since January 2025.

Ars Technica reports that a Skydance spokesperson told it the change was in the works before Discovery+ knew the merger's closing date.

Ars says the previous Discovery+ increase was in January 2025, when the ad-supported plan rose from $5 to $6 and the ad-free plan from $9 to $10.

Ars also reports that Skydance has said it will combine its streaming services, including Paramount+, HBO Max and Discovery+, "into a single service over time." Variety says the services are unchanged for now.

PlanMonthly, old to newYearly, old to new
Ad-supported$5.99 to $6.99$71.88 to $83.88
Ad-free$9.99 to $11.99$119.88 to $143.88

Yearly figures are our arithmetic from the monthly prices, before tax. They work out to $12.00 more a year (16.7 percent) for the ad-supported plan and $24.00 more (20.0 percent) for the ad-free plan.

When existing subscribers pay more

Discovery+'s price-change page says current subscribers pay the new price on their next billing date on or after Nov. 12, 2026. Variety reports the same date, with 30 days' advance notice.

The page says that if Discovery+ or an app store bills you, the plan renews at the new price on that date, and a promotional discount keeps your price until the promotion ends. If another provider bills you, that provider will tell you of any change.

The same page says that if Discovery+ bills you directly, you can find your next billing date at discoveryplus.com/my-account, in the Subscription section, where a cancel option also appears. For app-store billing, the page points to each store's own billing records.

Ad-free and offline downloads

The Discovery+ Help Center's mobile downloads page says only subscribers on the ad-free plan can download shows and videos to watch offline.

Why it matters

Our assessment: by our arithmetic, ad-free now costs $5.00 more a month than the ad-supported plan, $60.00 a year. Per Discovery+'s price-change page, current subscribers will not pay the higher price before Nov. 12, which leaves time to decide whether offline downloads are worth that gap.
