Is $328 a low?

Amazon lists the black XM6 at $458.00 as of Oct. 15, 2026. camelcamelcamel's Amazon history shows a high of $458 (Oct. 14, 2025), a low of $378 (Oct. 5, 2026) and an average of $429.49.

So $328 is $130 below Amazon's current price and $50 below the lowest price recorded at Amazon. 9to5Toys reports the headphones briefly fell to $309 earlier this year.

XM6 or the older XM5?

In a browser check on Oct. 15, Best Buy's XM5 listing showed the Black WH-1000XM5 at $228.00, marked Top Deal, with a $398.00 comparison value, sold by Best Buy. At $228, the XM5 costs $100 less than the $328 XM6.

What changed from the XM5

Sony Japan's pages for the XM6 and XM5 list the same battery, up to 30 hours with noise cancelling on and 40 with it off. The XM6 uses the QN3 processor and 12 microphones; the XM5 uses QN1 and V1 processors and 8 microphone signals.

Per the same pages, the XM6 has Bluetooth 5.3 and adds the LC3 codec to SBC, AAC and LDAC; the XM5 has Bluetooth 5.2. The XM6 page lists a folding mechanism, and the XM5 page lists a foldable carrying case.

Why it matters

Our assessment: at B&H's price the XM6 costs $100 more than the XM5 at Best Buy that day, and it adds no rated battery life, since Sony Japan lists both at 30 and 40 hours. The $100 buys the listed folding design, Bluetooth 5.3 with LC3 and newer noise-cancelling hardware, so it suits travelers and commuters more than anyone chasing runtime. The coupon ends today, and Platinum Silver is the only color in it.
