The Arc listing is titled "2 cameras (Black)". Its bullets say two Blink Mini 2K+ cameras are included, with a weather-resistant mount whose built-in splitter powers both. The 180-degree view needs a Blink Plus plan, sold separately.
What the camera does without a plan
Blink says the Mini 2K+ records up to 2560 x 1440 and takes a USB-C power adapter. Its specifications list a 138-degree diagonal view and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
Per Blink's FAQ, cloud storage, person and vehicle detection and Extended Live View (up to 90 minutes) need a Blink plan or the trial. Without one, live view sessions run up to five minutes.
The plan prices
Blink's plans page lists Basic at $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and Plus at $11.99 a month or $119.99 a year, plus tax. Blink's support page says Basic covers a single device, and Plus covers unlimited devices and adds an extended warranty. Person detection is not included in these cost comparisons.
The Mini 2K+ includes a 30-day Plus trial, then you pick Basic or Plus. Plans renew automatically until cancelled. Amazon is the place to buy several Basic plans; Blink.com sells one.
What a starter setup costs
This is our math from the prices above, using yearly plan prices and ignoring taxes and the trial month. The camera price is the $16.99 on Amazon.
- One Mini 2K+ plus Basic: one year is $16.99 + $39.99 = $56.98. Two years is $16.99 + 2 x $39.99 = $96.97.
- Three-pack plus three Basic plans: one year is $43.99 + 3 x $39.99 = $163.96. Two years is $43.99 + 3 x $79.98 = $283.93.
Three Basic plans cost $119.97 a year against Plus at $119.99, so Plus costs $0.02 more than three Basic plans and less than four.
The extras the sticker does not show
Outdoors, the Mini 2K+ needs Blink's Weather-Resistant Power Adapter, sold separately. Amazon.com sold the 13ft adapter at $9.99 at 2:11 PM ET (black; the white one is ASIN B0CBL72HYD). A Mini 2K+ outdoors with a Basic plan is $16.99 + $9.99 + $39.99 = $66.97 for the first year (our math).
To save clips without a plan, Blink says a Sync Module 2 or XR enables local saving, with a USB drive for the Module 2 (up to 256 GB, sold separately). The Sync Module Core in the doorbell kit does not support local storage.
Amazon.com sold the Sync Module 2 at $49.99 at 2:12 PM ET. With a Mini that is $16.99 + $49.99 = $66.98 before the USB drive (our math).
A rival with no plan fee: Tapo C210
Amazon listed the Tapo C210 at $24.98, list $29.99, shipped and sold by Amazon.com at 2:28 PM ET. The listing offers microSD storage up to 512GB at no cost and does not include a card. Tapo's page lists 2K video, 360-degree horizontal coverage with tilt, and person detection.
Amazon lists the SanDisk 128GB High Endurance microSDXC card (SDSQQNR-128G-GN6IA) at $36.99, list $60.99, shipped and sold by Amazon.com at 2:32 PM ET. The C210 at $24.98 plus that card at $36.99, both sold by Amazon.com, is $61.97 with no plan fee (our math).
Blink's no-plan route is a Mini at $16.99 plus a Sync Module 2 at $49.99, or $66.98, plus a USB drive. Person detection is not included in these comparisons.
Our call
Our opinion, from the facts above; we have not tested either camera. At $16.99 the Mini 2K+ is cheap, but the camera plus a year of Basic costs $56.98, and Amazon's timer points to an end around 3:00 AM ET.
It suits someone who wants a small indoor camera with cloud clips and accepts a yearly plan. Skip it if you want no recurring fee: Blink's no-plan route needs a Sync Module 2 and a USB drive, which adds $49.99 and the drive. The Tapo C210 plus a card is $61.97 with no plan.
