Claude Duet is open only to Pro and Max subscribers in the US, and you get in through a waitlist. Anthropic's product page calls it "a proactive agent that understands what needs your attention." It is a research preview, and no price is listed.
Who can get it
- Plans: Pro and Max, in the US.
- Not yet: Team and Enterprise plans.
- Access: by waitlist.
- Price: none stated on the page.
- Model: powered by Opus 5.5.
What it does
Anthropic's article describes an agent that sends a morning brief and takes on tasks while you are away. It works with more than 6,000 connectors and plugins.
It runs as a standalone iOS and Android app. On a computer, it runs in the browser at claude.ai.
What it asks before acting
Duet asks you before sensitive operations like sending messages or paying. Approvals and safety checks run in a cloud computer.
What to know before you join
- Background checks count toward your plan's usage limits, so a proactive agent can use your allowance without you opening the app.
- Anthropic warns that Duet may misread a thread, and it can miss things that arrive between check-ins.
- The Verge says it competes with Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots. Anthropic calls it an early version that may misjudge how urgent something is.
Why it matters
An agent that watches your messages for you saves effort, but the trade-off is trust. If it misreads a thread or misses a late message, you may not notice until later. The approval prompts limit the damage from sending or paying, but they do not catch a missed email.
Usage is the other cost. Because background checks draw on your plan, heavy connector use could leave less room for your own chats.
Meta's rival is covered in Meta Muse wonder models and Muse Code and Muse Spark on Mac Studio.
