OnePlus has confirmed the display for the OnePlus 16 ahead of its launch, according to GSMArena. The panel runs at up to 165Hz, with 185Hz limited to select games. US buyers should not expect it: in July OnePlus said it will no longer launch new products in North America or Europe.

The confirmed display specs

  • Panel: BOE X4 LTPO OLED at 1.5K resolution, per GSMArena.
  • Refresh rate: up to 165Hz in everyday use. GSMArena says the extra 20Hz to 185Hz unlocks only in supported games, and names Arena Breakout, Nizhan: Future, Naruto Mobile and Peace Elite.
  • Low light: GSMArena and Notebookcheck report a minimum brightness of about 1 nit.
  • Power: OnePlus says the panel draws about as much power as a 120Hz display, according to GSMArena.
  • Eye care: GSMArena lists TÜV Rheinland Smart Eye Protection 6.0.
  • Chips: GSMArena reports a custom display chip, a separate touch chip and a connectivity chip.

Peak brightness was not shared. GSMArena reports, without confirmation, 1.15 mm bezels.

What it means in practice

At 165Hz, scrolling and animations should look smoother than on a 120Hz screen, and OnePlus's claim that it draws about the same power as a 120Hz panel is the part to check in reviews. 185Hz is available only in supported games. A 1-nit floor should allow a dimmer screen in dark rooms.

These are OnePlus's pre-launch claims, and we have not seen the phone. Independent display tests will show peak brightness, color accuracy and real battery impact.

Launch timing and US availability

OnePlus's China site lists a OnePlus 16 launch event on October 12, 2026 at 19:00. GSMArena says the phone launches in China.

For US buyers, OnePlus's own statement matters more. In a post to its community, which outlets dated July 16, OnePlus said it would "conclude new product rollouts in Europe and North America." The post adds: "we will no longer launch new products in Europe." The OnePlus 16 is therefore not expected to go on sale in the US. PhoneArena's headline also says US buyers will not be able to buy it.

Existing OnePlus owners

The post's support promises are addressed to European owners. It says existing devices there keep receiving scheduled software updates and security patches for the support period originally committed to each model, and that customer service and warranties stay in place. The post does not address North American owners' support or warranty.

One item is global: after ColorOS 17 ships, eligible OnePlus phones can choose to update to ColorOS, with a rollback to OxygenOS possible.

Still unknown

  • Peak brightness and whether the bezel figure is accurate
  • Pricing and release dates outside China, not announced in the sources we reviewed
  • Whether the phone will ever be sold outside China
