What changed from the original fp
Sigma calls the FP2 "a true evolution of the fp series". Its listed changes:
- Sensor: 24.5MP partially stacked, against 24.6MP on the fp. Sigma says the fast readout reduces rolling shutter distortion.
- Size: Sigma claims "smallest", not lightest. Its global spec table lists 376 g for the FP2 body and 370 g for the fp, so the FP2 is about 6 g heavier. Sigma USA's FP2 table lists 388 g.
- Battery: about 30% longer life than the original fp.
- Screen: a 3.15-inch LCD that tilts up about 90 degrees and down about 45.
- Viewfinder: an optional EVF-21, a 0.5-inch OLED of about 5.76 million dots that tilts up to 90 degrees.
- Modes: one top switch flips between Still and Cine, each with its own interface.
- Color: 13 color modes on a dedicated Color button.
Video features
In Cine mode Sigma lists 6K OpenGate recording, ProRes RAW, L-Log and a Director's Viewfinder function. The spec table gives 6K up to 59.94 fps in H.264 and H.265, with ProRes RAW capped at 6K 29.97 fps, and 4K up to 119.88 fps in Crop mode. Sigma claims up to 14.1 stops of dynamic range with 4K full-frame L-Log, and 32-bit float audio with the HU-21 hot shoe unit and specified Panasonic accessories.
Other accessories include the BPL-21 base plate and LVF-21 LCD viewfinder. Sigma lists no prices for them.
The 50mm F1.4 CL lens
The Sigma 50mm F1.4 CL DG | Contemporary starts a new "CL" line in Sigma's I series of compact primes. Sigma says it pairs a classic look with recent technology and aims for soft texture rendering and smooth bokeh.

- Mounts: L-Mount and Sony E-mount.
- Build: metal body, dust and splash resistant but not waterproof.
- Optics: 9 elements in 6 groups, with 3 aspherical elements and 1 FLD glass element.
- Focus: a new RDD actuator for autofocus.
- Timing: early spring 2027.
Why it matters
The $2,199 covers the body only. The EVF-21 bundle costs $2,749, so the viewfinder adds $550, and a camera built out for video with the hot shoe unit and base plate will cost more again. The other $2,749 bundle pairs the body with the older 50mm F2 DG DN | C, not the new F1.4 CL.
The new F1.4 lens arrives months after the body and Sigma has not priced it, so a kit built around it cannot be totaled yet.
