Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+. Amazon's explainer, updated Oct. 22, 2026, says the subscription "has been renamed Kindle+." In the US it costs $11.99 a month plus taxes.

What Amazon says Kindle+ includes

From Amazon's page:

  • Price: "In the U.S., a Kindle+ subscription costs $11.99 a month plus taxes."
  • Borrowing: "You can borrow up to 20 digital books, audiobooks, or comics at a time." Amazon says titles can be returned at any time, with no due dates while the subscription is active.
  • Audio: "Audio narration is available for thousands of Kindle+ titles," marked by a headphone icon next to the Kindle+ logo. "Thousands of eBooks also include companion audiobooks," and Amazon says you can switch between reading and listening at no extra cost. The page states no monthly audiobook cap.
  • Cancelling: the subscription "will remain active until your next billing date," and Amazon gives no refund for fees already paid.

Where it is offered

Amazon lists Kindle+ in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, the US, the UK "and many more countries and territories." The full list is on Amazon's Customer Service page.

What Amazon has not stated

Neither the explainer nor the Kindle+ sign-up page (the address now redirects to the old Kindle Unlimited sign-up path, under a banner reading "Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+") says:

  • What changes for current subscribers. The explainer describes a rename. It does not say whether the price, plan or library changes for people already subscribed.
  • How long the free trial lasts. Amazon says only to "check your eligibility for a free trial" on the Kindle+ page. Our check of that page, logged out, showed no trial length.
  • When the rename takes effect in the US. The explainer carries an Oct. 22 update note and no effective date.

If you already subscribe, check your Amazon account for your own plan and billing date before assuming anything changed.

Context

Our earlier Kindle coverage: Amazon's redesigned 2026 Kindles: prices, release dates and what's new and Amazon's new base Kindle shows an edge glow, and accounts vary.

Why it matters

Amazon's page describes a rename and does not say whether anything else changes. The terms it states today are the $11.99 US price, the 20-title limit and the audiobook access, all as Amazon states them today. The unanswered questions are for current subscribers and anyone planning to use the free trial.
