MacRumors reports that Apple's new OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models could go on sale Friday, Nov. 6, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple has not confirmed the product, the date or the price.
What Gurman reportedly said
On his latest podcast, Gurman said Apple plans to introduce the new MacBook Pro models on Oct. 27 or Oct. 28, according to MacRumors. He said they could launch on Friday, Nov. 6.
Apple retail stores have a "big floor reset" scheduled for the evening of Thursday, Nov. 5, and into Nov. 6, which Gurman says could be preparation for the new Macs, MacRumors reports. MacRumors says the reset would follow a late-October debut, with a creator-focused gathering in Los Angeles.
Gurman did not say whether there will be a classic Apple event, only that Apple will "do something" and will "have those videos" at the "very least," per MacRumors.
What else is rumored
MacRumors lists three other products Apple is rumored to launch alongside the touchscreen laptop: an OLED iPad mini, an M6 iMac and an M6 entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro.
MacRumors adds that the OLED MacBook Pro could be sold as a higher-end option next to the current mini-LED models, and that new chips are not expected. It says Apple is said to be using the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as the existing models.
What is not settled
MacRumors says Gurman earlier floated "MacBook Ultra" but more recently walked that back and suggested the new Macs would stay in the MacBook Pro line. Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 both appear in the reporting.
As of Oct. 15, Apple's events page shows only its September iPhone event and no upcoming Mac event. Our earlier report covers the earlier Oct. 8 and Oct. 15 reports on the launch and the Los Angeles media gathering.
If you are shopping for a MacBook Pro
MacRumors says the rumored models could be offered alongside the current lineup, with the chips unchanged. That makes the open questions size, display and price, and none of them is confirmed.
For a buyer who needs a laptop now, the current lineup is the one that can be ordered. Our buy-now-or-wait guide for the 16-inch M5 Pro weighs that choice, and our October calendar tracks which Apple dates are official and which are not.
Why it matters
A Nov. 6 on-sale date, if it holds, would put new MacBook Pro models in stores nine to ten days after the rumored debut, so the wait is short.
Our assessment: a buyer who is not in a hurry has little to lose by waiting for Apple to confirm details, while anyone who needs a Mac this month should not hold out for a rumor.
