Amazon announced a new line of Android tablets on October 8, 2026, called Alexa Tablets, starting at $229.99 for the Alexa Tablet 8. The Alexa Tablet 11 starts at $329.99 and the top-end Alexa Tablet 12 Pro at $499.99, all in US dollars. Amazon says they are on sale now and will ship on October 14 in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Prices and models

According to Amazon's announcement, these are the starting prices and configurations:

  • Alexa Tablet 12 Pro: $499.99 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A Nanomatte anti-glare display version starts at $549.99. Amazon lists a 12-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate (smoother scrolling and pen strokes than a 60Hz screen) and a 6.5mm aluminum body, which Amazon describes as thin and light but gives no weight for.
  • Alexa Tablet 11: $329.99 with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, with an 11-inch 2.5K, 90Hz screen. Amazon says it is aimed at streaming, gaming and reading.
  • Alexa Tablet 8: $229.99 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Its 8.7-inch screen is the smallest, and at 329g Amazon calls it the most portable, meant to be held in one hand.

The Pro Pen ($89.99) and Pro Keyboard ($149.99) are made only for the 12 Pro. Amazon also announced kids versions of the 8.7-inch and 11-inch tablets; it gives no prices for them in this post.

Amazon says it will sell the tablets on Amazon.com and at select retailers including Best Buy and Target. It says shipping starts October 19 in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Those are Amazon's dates, and we have not seen them confirmed independently.

What is different

Amazon says every model has Alexa+ built in, can be asked about what is on the screen (a feature that Amazon says is off until you opt in), and runs Android with full Google Play Store access, so apps such as YouTube, Netflix and Gmail are available alongside Amazon's own. Amazon's own battery figures are up to 16 hours of video on the 12 Pro, 15 on the 11 and 14 on the 8, and none of these has been independently tested.

How the prices compare

Amazon's post makes no comparison with other tablets. On Apple's US store, as of October 8, iPad starts at $449, iPad Air at $749 and iPad mini at $599. The Alexa Tablet 11 at $329.99 is $119.01 below the entry iPad's starting price, and the 12 Pro at $499.99 is $50.99 above it and $249.01 below the iPad Air's.

With both accessories the 12 Pro comes to $739.97, close to the iPad Air's starting price before any Apple accessories. These are price points only. We have not matched screen size, storage, chips or software, and we have found no independent testing of the Alexa Tablets (we did not search for reviews beyond Amazon's announcement), so this does not show which is better value.

What we don't know

Amazon's post does not say whether Alexa+ costs extra, and we have not checked. RR Tech Pulse has not handled these tablets, and everything above about their performance is Amazon's claim.
