What you get

The tablet comes in a kid-proof case with a stand and handle. Amazon's listing also says it includes a 2-year worry-free guarantee (return it if it breaks and Amazon replaces it), an Amazon Kids+ subscription and parental controls. The listing text is not consistent on the length of the Kids+ subscription, six months in one place and one year in another, and it renews at $7.99 a month after that, so confirm the term at checkout.

Amazon lists an 8-inch HD display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, expandable up to 1TB, and up to 13 hours of battery. Those are Amazon's claims. We have not tested the tablet.

The price

  • Amazon: $94.99, in stock, under a "Limited time deal" badge. No coupon or membership requirement was visible.
  • Amazon's "Typical price": $169.99, so the gap is $75.00, or 44%.
  • Keepa 90-day median: about $170, read off the 3-month chart on Keepa, so approximate. The price sat near list level for about 53 of the 90 days. $94.99 is about 44% under it.
  • 90-day low: $94.99 is also the lowest price Keepa shows for this tablet in that window. It first appeared Oct. 17.
  • End date: not confirmed.

Read from Amazon and Keepa on Oct. 30. Seller and delivery date were not checked.

Is it worth it

If you have a child aged 3 to 7 and want a first tablet, $94.99 is the lowest Keepa shows for the past 90 days, and it already includes the case and guarantee, so it is a good time to buy. If you do not need one, there is no reason to rush. For a bigger screen, see Amazon's Fire HD 10 deal from Oct. 18, or browse Mobile.
