HomeView is Apple's new smart home display, sold in two $299 models: one with a speaker base and one built to hang on a wall. The wall model is $299, but nothing in the box gets it onto a wall. The cheapest working setup is $358.95 with Apple's $59.95 USB-C mount, plus a 20W power adapter if you do not own one. The new Siri Remote is a separate $59.

Three mounts, and the cheapest one still needs an adapter

HomeView (Wall Mounted) is available to pre-order with delivery on Nov. 13. Apple's buy page says it "requires a mount and power solution to operate," and Schneider Home makes all three mounts.

Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector$59.95$358.95
Power Mount AC Wired$79.95$378.95
Power Mount PoE Wired$129.95$428.95

The USB-C Wall Connector is the do-it-yourself one. Apple says it needs no electrician and no wall box, and it mounts with the included screws and anchors. It connects through a cable to a power adapter of at least 20W, sold separately. Apple offers a "40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max" at checkout but does not list its price on the pages we read.

The AC Wired mount is hardwired, and Apple recommends a licensed electrician. The PoE Wired mount needs Power over Ethernet wiring in the wall. Apple's newsroom says it arrives in early 2027, and its store page showed "Check back later for availability." Apple has not given a delivery date for the other two mounts, only that they may arrive separately.

Apple's FAQ says the wall-mounted model "requires installation" and points to ADT. Its pages describe ADT as available "in most areas" in the body text and "in select areas" in a footnote, so check installation.adt.com for your address.

What you give up against the $299 standard model

The standard HomeView is the same $299 and, per Apple's footnote, includes a USB-C cable and power adapter. The wall model lists the mount, cable and adapter as sold separately. It also gives up hardware: per MacRumors, both models have two custom full-range drivers and the wall model uses computational audio tuned for on-wall placement, but only the speaker-base model adds a down-firing woofer and two force-canceling passive radiators. The Verge notes you cannot lean the wall model on a shelf, because it has no power source, and you cannot convert the standard model to hang. The wall model also comes in two colors, silver and space gray, while the standard one adds starlight and rose pink. How the wall model sounds against the standard one is unknown until reviews. The $59 Siri Remote fits older Apple TVs

The 4th-generation Siri Remote is $59.00, ships Nov. 13 per 9to5Mac, and charges over USB-C. What is new, per Apple, is Find My with Precision Finding and a speaker that plays a sound if the remote goes missing. Apple's store page lists Apple TV 4K (1st through 4th generation) and Apple TV HD as compatible.

Precision Finding also needs an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or iPhone 17 or later, excluding iPhone 17e, on the latest iOS. Anyone buying the new Apple TV 4K ($299.00) already gets this remote in the box, so it is for people who keep their current box and keep losing the remote.

A rival with the wall mount in the box: Amazon's Echo Show 15

Amazon's Echo Show 15 is built for walls and lists a wall mount, anchors, screws, a 30W power adapter and a 5 ft cord in the box. We have not recorded its price, so check the current figure on the listing. It runs Alexa rather than Siri and is not a like-for-like swap, so the comparison is about what you pay to get a screen on a wall, not about features.

Wall or counter: what we would buy

This is our judgment, and we have not tested either product. If you want HomeView on a counter, buy the standard model and skip the mount question. If you want it on a wall, plan on $358.95 with the USB-C mount, plus a 20W adapter if you have none; $378.95 hardwired (Apple recommends an electrician); or $428.95 with PoE, which arrives in early 2027 and needs Ethernet with PoE in the wall. If you only want a smart display on a wall and do not need Siri or HomeKit, Amazon's Echo Show 15 is the ready-to-hang alternative, with the mount in the box; check its price on the listing.
