Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple's smart home display will be called HomeView, according to 9to5Mac's summary of his Sunday newsletter. Apple has not confirmed the name, the specs or the dates below. It has confirmed only that it will hold a "Welcome home" event on Tuesday, October 13.
What the report says
- Name: HomeView. Earlier reports, including MacRumors, usually called the device "HomePad," which MacRumors said was a HomePod-iPad hybrid expectation. 9to5Mac says the brand "would obviously sit alongside" the HomePod speakers. MacRumors reported on October 9 that Apple potentially used a shell company to file for a "HomeView" trademark; that is unconfirmed.
- Timing: announced Tuesday, but "probably won't be released until the middle of November," per 9to5Mac's summary of Gurman.
- Design: a display floating above a speaker base. A second, wall-mountable version has a square base.
- Chip: A18.
- Colors: the speaker-base model in space gray, silver, starlight and pink. The wall-mounted model only in silver or space gray.
- Use: mainly voice, with Siri AI "as the centerpiece," and users looking at content from across the room.
- Also coming: 9to5Mac says Apple is preparing refreshes of the Apple TV and the HomePod mini, plus smart home accessories made with partners such as LG, including thermostats, door locks and doorbells.
- Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini: MacRumors, citing Gurman, reports the new Apple TV 4K (A19 chip) and HomePod mini (S10 chip) launch Friday, October 30, shipping and reaching stores that day. 9to5Mac adds that Apple has tested built-in microphones for the Apple TV and a Siri Remote with a speaker; neither is confirmed for the shipping model.
- iPad mini: Gurman also says the OLED iPad mini, expected later this month, will be "considerably more expensive," per 9to5Mac, floating a price near $799. The current iPad mini starts at $599.
What is still unknown
Price. The material we reviewed gives none, and no pre-order date or region-specific availability beyond "the middle of November." On size, MacRumors reported on October 10 that the hub "reportedly has a 6-inch square display"; the Gurman summary we read does not give a size.
Should you wait
If you are shopping for a smart display this month, the report says HomeView could be released around mid-November, about five weeks away, after a reveal on October 13. With no price reported, there is nothing to compare against an Echo Show or Nest Hub yet. We will update this story with Apple's own announcement.

What we could not confirm
The full Bloomberg newsletter is paywalled. We read its headline and summary line, and relied on 9to5Mac for the details. MacRumors and AppleInsider had not published matching reports when we checked at about 10:12 a.m. ET on October 11. Everything above except the October 13 event date is a report, not an Apple announcement.
