Sony's PlayStation Pulse wireless headset goes on sale Nov. 19, 2026 at a recommended $99.99. It is the first of the new Pulse headsets to launch, and pre-orders open Oct. 29.

Price, date and where to buy

  • Price: $99.99 / £89.99 / €99.99 / ¥15,980 (recommended retail).
  • Colors: White and Midnight Black.
  • Pre-orders: Oct. 29 at 10:00 a.m. local time. US buyers can order direct from PlayStation from 7:00 a.m. PT.
  • Ship date: Nov. 19, from PlayStation (where available) and select retailers.
  • Countries at launch: the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK and much of Europe, plus Israel and Ukraine. Sony will announce other countries later.

Engadget adds that this is $50 less than the Pulse Elite.

What you get

  • Custom planar magnetic drivers, with four magnets per driver. Sony says they are larger than on Pulse Elite, for fuller bass.
  • PlayStation Link with a USB-C adapter in the box. Sony says it gives lossless, low-latency audio and switches between PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC and Mac.
  • Bluetooth, connected at the same time as PlayStation Link.
  • An integrated mic with AI noise rejection, and built-in volume control.
  • Rotating earcups so the headset lies flat.

What it leaves out

The Pulse is one of two new models. Pulse Edge, which Sony says arrives in early 2027, adds the following that the Pulse lacks:

  • Active noise cancellation.
  • A detachable boom mic.
  • A game-and-chat balance control on the headset, for PS5.
  • A carrying case and a wired audio and microphone jack.
  • Eight magnets per driver, double the Pulse, for deeper bass.

Sony has not announced an exact Pulse Edge release date or price.

Why it matters

Sony's earlier planar magnetic headset, the Pulse Elite, was the pricier option. The Pulse brings the same driver type and PlayStation Link to a $99.99 price. The trade-off is the mic: it is built in, so it cannot be swapped for a boom, and there is no wired jack.

PlayStation Link is the catch for non-PlayStation use. It needs the included USB-C adapter, though Bluetooth covers other devices. Building a PC or handheld setup? See our 8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ gamepad story for a controller that works with Windows.

Our call

Buy the Pulse if you play on PS5, PlayStation Portal or a PC and want planar drivers without paying Elite money. Skip it if you need ANC for travel, a boom mic for ranked chat or a wired jack. In that case, wait for Pulse Edge.
