The Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB (MZ-V9S1T0B/AM) is $237.10 on Amazon, shipped and sold by Amazon.com and in stock. The list price shown is $289.99, so the saving is $52.89, about 18%. PC Guide spotted the deal.
Is $237.10 a low?
PC Guide says this is the drive's lowest price since April, and that it started October at an all-time high of $290.
camelcamelcamel's chart shows Amazon's highest price at $289.99 on Oct 3, 2026, and an Amazon average of $251.01, so $237.10 is about $14 below that average. Its lowest Amazon price is $64.99, on Aug 18, 2025. At $237.10 you pay about 3.6 times that.
What the drive offers
Samsung's product page rates the 1TB at 7,150 MB/s sequential read and 6,300 MB/s sequential write. Samsung's brochure gives 850K random-read and 1,350K random-write IOPS at queue depth 32.
The brochure also lists 600 TBW and a 5-year limited warranty, whichever comes first. The interface is PCIe 4.0 x4 or 5.0 x2 NVMe 2.0.
The same class, today
The WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB without a heatsink is $249.99. The offer checked was sold by a third party, "Sales For You", with "Only 7 left".
The Crucial T500 1TB without a heatsink is $299.99, in stock, sold by a third party, PENNPC. Seller and stock can change quickly.
So the Samsung is $12.89 below the SN850X and $62.89 below the T500, and it is the only one of the three offers checked sold by Amazon.com itself. Speed is not compared here. Prices as of Oct. 14, 2026.
Who it suits
Sony's PS5 page requires a PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe drive, recommends 5,500 MB/s sequential read or faster, and says not to use an M.2 SSD without a heatsink or heat transfer sheet. Samsung's 7,150 MB/s clears the speed bar.
The drive in Samsung's product photo has no heatsink. If the offer includes no suitable cooling, add a solution that fits Sony's size limits.
A heatsink-equipped Crucial T500 1TB is $224.95 from a third-party seller, MobileMonster. That is a different product, $12.15 below the Samsung, and its fit against Sony's size limits is unchecked.
Our call
This is our opinion, and we have not tested the drive. $237.10 is a dip in a market where this drive has been far cheaper, not a record low.
The Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB is a fair buy if you need a 1TB Gen4 drive now and want Amazon as the seller. If you can wait, watch the tracked price. For a PS5, check that cooling is included or budget for it.
