Amazon's listing for Samsung's 34-inch Odyssey G5 (LC34G55TWWNXZA) showed $249.99 at 5:38 a.m. ET Oct. 18, 2026, sold and shipped by Amazon. A limited-time deal badge said it ends in 21 hours, which is about 3 a.m. ET Oct. 19. Prices change, so check the page before you buy.
The price
The listing also shows $399.99 with a strikethrough. We could not verify it as a price the monitor actually sold at, so we do not count it as a saving.
Keepa's price history, read at 8:04 a.m. ET Oct. 18, shows Amazon's price has sat at this level for 20 days, since about Sep. 28, so it is not a new drop. It is about $60 to $70 under the 90-day average of $310.32 and the 180-day average of $318.73.
The same chart shows a low of $203.99 on Apr. 21, 2026, so it has been cheaper before. It shows about 16 price drops a month on average, though this price has held since about Sep. 28.
In our read, that makes the price as of the first read above a fair one, not a rare one, and the history shows it has been lower.
What you get
Samsung's page lists a 34-inch curved VA panel with a 1000R curve and a 21:9 shape. The resolution is 3,440 x 1,440, with up to 165Hz, FreeSync Premium and a 1ms response time measured as MPRT, not gray-to-gray.
It lists 250 cd/m2 typical brightness, a 2,500:1 static contrast ratio and HDR10 support, plus Black Equalizer, a low input lag mode and picture-by-picture.
What it lacks
The ports are one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0 and a headphone jack. There is no USB-C, no USB hub and no speakers. The stand tilts from -2 to 18 degrees and does nothing else, with no height or swivel adjustment. It does take a 75 x 75 VESA mount, and it weighs 5.6 lb with the stand.
Is a VA curve worth it at this price
We are arguing from the spec sheet and the price history only, and we have not tested this monitor or compared it side by side with any flat IPS screen.
Samsung lists a 2,500:1 static contrast ratio and a 1000R curve.
Samsung lists 250 cd/m2 typical brightness and HDR10 support. The 1ms figure is MPRT, so do not read it as pixel speed. Check these lines against your room and use.
If you compare a flat IPS monitor, check the same lines on its spec sheet: contrast ratio, typical brightness, stand adjustment and ports. Whatever is on the page beside the price decides which one is cheaper for you.
Who it suits
In our read, untested, it suits a desktop gamer or home user with a DisplayPort or HDMI source who wants a wide screen for games and video at the listed price.
Who should skip it
For more, see our other monitor deal coverage and our other Samsung monitor coverage.
Skip it for a one-cable laptop setup, since there is no USB-C or hub. Skip it if you need an adjustable stand or a flat screen.
