Withings says that accounts created from Oct. 13, 2026 get automatic syncing to third-party apps, including Apple Health, only with a Withings+ membership. MacRumors reports the change and Engadget reports it drew criticism from customers.

What Withings says is gated

Withings' support page says accounts created after Oct. 13 will be asked to sign up for Withings+ to export data to third-party apps such as Apple Health and Health Connect. Its MyFitnessPal partner page carries the same notice, so the gate is not limited to Apple.

The pages word the cutoff differently: "after" Oct. 13 on one, "on or after" on another. Withings' team reply settles it: accounts created from Oct. 13 are covered, and accounts created on or before Oct. 12 are not.

That page says the change came with the Withings AI Connector, which needed API changes and new privacy measures, per Withings' support article.

What existing users keep

Withings says sync stays free for accounts created on or before Oct. 12, and that this is tied to the account, not the device. Buying a new scale or watch later does not change it. MacRumors reports the same.

Our assessment: a second household member who signs up after Oct. 13 would appear to be on the new terms, even on a scale you already own, because the rule follows the account. As of Oct. 15, Withings' reply does not address that case.

What new users can do today

Withings says new members can try everything, sync included, with a free trial. If a membership ends, sync pauses and no data is lost. It resumes when the membership is active again.

The same Withings reply says everyone, member or not, can export their full history as CSV or PDF at any time. Withings' steps are:

  1. Open Profile, then Settings in the Withings app.
  2. Tap Export All Health Data and choose a user profile.
  3. Tap Start my archive.

Withings says it then emails the CSV file.

That is a manual export, not an automatic feed. Engadget says free users must export and upload their history each time they want recent data elsewhere.

Sync is not fully hands-off even with Withings+. Withings' Apple Health article says an iOS restriction stops Apple Health syncing from being automatic: open the Withings app, open Apple Health, return to Withings and swipe down to refresh, each time you want the latest data.

Price and what Withings+ includes

MacRumors says Withings+ costs $99.50 a year in the US, while Engadget rounds it to $100.

Withings lists the exclusive scores Heart Age, Readiness and Glucose Resilience, plus an improved Health Assistant that remembers your profile and trends.

It also lists ECG reviews by physicians through Cardio Check-Up and the new Withings AI Connector, a way to link your data to AI assistants.

The AI Connector page says it is rolling out to Withings+ members during October 2026 and requires an active membership.

Why it matters

Withings has said what is gated and who is exempt, and the exemption is by account date, not by hardware. Our assessment: a buyer who wants Apple Health data from a new Withings account should price the yearly Withings+ cost into the scale. Anyone content with a manual CSV export can skip the membership.
