The YouTube subscriptions tab moved: in the redesigned mobile Home screen, "Subs (formerly Subscriptions)" now sits in the top bar on the Home tab. YouTube's Community post, from TeamYouTube on Oct. 22, 2026, also covers custom feeds, which are not new: YouTube's help page already lists them for US viewers.

Where your subscriptions went

On the mobile app, open Home and look at the top bar. That is where Subs now lives, per the post. The same bar adds dedicated feeds for Live, Music, and Movies & TV. Movies & TV appears only if you have active paid content, such as Primetime Channels.

The Subscriptions bottom-bar tab is gone in the new layout, per 9to5Google's look at the app. The YouTube post itself does not say the bottom-bar tab is removed.

Custom feeds

Tap "+" at the top of Home and describe what you want to see. Per the post:

  • Feeds are saved at the top of Home, and you can edit them through the prompt box.
  • A free account gets 3 active feeds. YouTube Premium gets 8.
  • Feeds sync to desktop on the same Google account.

YouTube's help page for custom feeds lists the same 3-and-8 limits, says feeds are not available on tablets, and says a feed's prompt expires after 30 days of inactivity.

Who gets custom feeds

Custom feeds roll out on mobile and desktop, in English, to signed-in viewers in the US who are 13 or older and have search history turned on. YouTube says more users and regions are coming later, without naming any.

What YouTube has not said

The post gives no rollout timing for the navigation change, so you may not see the new top bar yet. It does not say whether any setting brings back the old Subscriptions tab, and it does not say what takes the bottom-bar slot Subscriptions leaves.

Why it matters

If your muscle memory goes to the bottom bar for new uploads, expect to retrain it. For a related YouTube change, see GIFs in comments, and for Premium in cars, see the redesigned Play Store in cars with Google built-in.
