Amazon's listing for the Apple Pencil (USB-C) showed $69.00 as of 12:56 p.m. ET Oct. 22, 2026, against a $79.00 list price Amazon shows. It is a good buy if you own one of the iPads listed below; the Pencil Pro is the one with pressure sensitivity and wireless charging, per Apple. iPhone Duo support is not live yet: Apple says it arrives later this year.

The end date is not announced, and prices change, so check the page before you buy.

What the Pencil works with today

Apple's Pencil page lists these iPads for the USB-C model: iPad Pro 13-inch and 11-inch (M4 and M5), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd to 6th generation) and 11-inch (1st to 4th generation), iPad Air 13-inch and 11-inch (M2, M3 and M4), iPad Air (4th and 5th generation), iPad (A16), iPad (10th generation), iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad mini (6th generation).

Apple's tech specs say it needs iPadOS 17.1.1 or later. Apple's page says it pairs and charges over USB-C and attaches magnetically to the side of the iPad.

The iPhone Duo angle

Apple's newsroom says "later this year, iPhone Duo will support Apple Pencil with USB-C" for taking notes, sketching or marking up documents on either display. Apple's iPhone Duo specs list "Supports Apple Pencil (USB-C)" with the footnote "Coming later this year."

So the Pencil does not work with iPhone Duo yet, and Apple has not given a date. iPhone Duo goes on sale Oct. 23, per Apple's newsroom. Our iPhone Duo pre-order checklist covers the rest of the buying questions.

What to check before buying

Match your iPad against the list above, since the listing carries a compatibility check. Apple's page marks pressure sensitivity, wireless pairing and charging, barrel roll, squeeze, double-tap and Find My as not supported on this model; those are Apple Pencil Pro features. Apple also says hover works only on certain iPads, so check its footnote for yours.
