OpenAI has updated GPT-6 Pro in ChatGPT's chat tab, according to its Oct. 16 release notes. The notes list faster responses, improved use of plugins and tools to carry out tasks, and multiple agents that work on different parts of a task in parallel.
What changes
The release notes say you can follow the agents' progress in the conversation. You can also open completed tasks to see what each agent did.
The notes describe "faster" without a figure, and we have not timed GPT-6 Pro before or after the update. Treat the speed claim as OpenAI's.
Who gets it
The update is rolling out to eligible Pro users in ChatGPT. For managed workspaces, the notes say availability depends on workspace settings and rollout eligibility. They do not give a schedule, so it may not have reached your account yet.
A naming wrinkle
The release notes call the model "GPT-6 Pro." OpenAI's post on X the same day calls it "GPT-6 Astra Pro." Both describe the same upgrade, with faster responses, better plugin and tool use, and multiple agents. The post also places it in the Chat tab for Pro users. Neither source explains the difference in names, so we use the release notes' wording here.
What we could not check
We read OpenAI's release notes and its X post, not the update running on an account. How the parallel agents behave on real tasks is untested here.
