iPhone Duo goes on sale Friday, Oct. 23, and Apple says you can see it at every Apple Store. Whether you can buy one on the spot is less certain: Apple has described walk-in availability as "limited", and an online order now shows a January 2027 delivery date.
What Apple has said about stores
Apple's iPhone Duo page says the phone is available on apple.com and at select carriers and partner stores starting Oct. 23, and that you can see it in person at all Apple Store locations.
Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak told TechRadar: "We didn't ship them all away during the pre-order, we have them available at the stores, we're excited." He also said he would be at the Fifth Avenue store in New York on launch morning. On demand he said the pre-order response was "extraordinary".
9to5Mac reported that Apple told it earlier this week that stores would have "limited" iPhone Duo availability for walk-in customers in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Macao, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, the UK and most stores in Italy.
What's not known
Apple has not announced how many units each store has, which stores have the most, or what time stores will open for the launch. Apple has not said whether carrier and partner stores have the same supply as Apple's own. The same report says Apple still has units set aside for people who try a store or try to lock in a unit for pickup, but Apple has not published how pickup works for the Duo.
If you want one Friday
- A store is the launch-day path. With online delivery showing January, walking in, or trying for a store pickup, is the route that could get a phone this week.
- Expect that it may not work. Apple's own word for walk-in stock is "limited".
- Go early. That is the interviewer's advice, not Apple's.
- Check your store. The Apple Store app and apple.com are the places to look for your store's details. Apple has not said they will show Duo stock.
Our pre-order coverage covers how the delivery dates slipped. If you do get one, is AppleCare worth it covers the next decision.
Why it matters
Joswiak's comment makes a store the launch-day route, but it does not promise stock: "limited" and "set aside" are not counts. The trade-off is a gamble on time and travel against waiting until January 2027 for an online order, and the answer will differ by store.
Prices and colours at launch
Apple's buy page lists four sizes, each in Night Sky and Star White: 256 GB at $1,999.00, 512 GB at $2,199.00, 1 TB at $2,599.00 and 2 TB at $3,199.00. The page still reads "Pre-order iPhone Duo" as of Oct. 22, 11:37 p.m. ET.
