Amazon has the 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 24GB and 1TB at $2,499, about $261 under what it usually charges. But a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro is reported for Oct 27, and this one would not arrive before Oct 26, per the listing. Apple has not confirmed it.
Amazon's US listing, read at 4:30 PM ET Oct 13, 2026, shows the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro at $2,499.00, with an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage in Space Black. It lists $2,999.00 as the List Price and shows Amazon.com as shipper and seller.
Keepa's tracker showed the same $2,499.00 at 4:20 PM ET, and Mashable reported it on Oct 13. The listing says it is available to ship in 1-2 days, with delivery Oct 26 to Nov 2, so it is not next-day. End date not announced.
Is $2,499 a good price?
It is about $261 under Amazon's usual price. Keepa's 90-day chart shows about $2,760 for most of August and September, in a range of about $2,750 to $2,815. We read those values off the chart by eye, so treat them as approximate.
It is $500 under the $2,999.00 that Amazon's listing calls the List Price, which matches Apple's store page for this configuration, read at 4:19 PM ET. Mashable's "usual price of $2,999" is that list price, not what Amazon usually charged.
It is not the lowest recent price. Keepa's chart shows about $2,437 around Oct 8, so it was about $62 lower last week, then about $2,500 from about Oct 9. The year view also shows a brief low around $2,450 in late May.
What the listing shows
- Model: Amazon's listing gives model MGEA4LL/A, with a 140W power adapter and a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable in the box.
- Colour: Space Black, with Silver also offered, per Amazon's listing.
- Other capacities: Amazon's listing also lists 36GB with 2TB, 48GB with 1TB and 48GB with 2TB. We did not read their prices.
- Used: Amazon's listing shows a "Very Good" used unit at $2,350.31 from Amazon Resale.
- Card offer: Amazon's listing shows $60 off with Amazon Visa approval. We did not check the terms.
A new MacBook Pro is reported for Oct 27
Our report story covers it. MacRumors reports that Bloomberg expects 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with touchscreen OLED displays "on or around" Tuesday, Oct 27. Apple has not confirmed the date or any product.
What is reported to change, as our report story summarises it:
- Display and weight: touchscreen OLED panels with a Dynamic Island, and models "significantly lighter" than the current ones, per 9to5Mac.
- Chips: 9to5Mac says the new models "are expected to be powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips." Engadget says it expects the same M5 Pro and Max chips as the current high-end models, citing an earlier report of no pro-level M6. Both outlets expect the same chip family as this listing.
- Size: reports disagree. MacRumors reports Bloomberg's Mark Gurman saying "I don't think it'll be significantly thinner in the end."
- Price: none of the five outlets in our report story gives a confirmed price.
So the price of the new 16-inch is unknown. Touchscreen OLED is a reported upgrade, but performance remains unconfirmed. In our judgment, that is one reason to buy the current model now if you do not want OLED or touch.
Who should buy now, and who should wait
In our judgment, the 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro, 24GB and 1TB at $2,499.00 suits three buyers anyway:
- You need a laptop this month. A reported date is not a product.
- You want the lower price. Amazon's recent norm is about $2,760, and a new model may not start lower.
- You do not care about OLED or touch. The reported changes would not matter to you.
Consider waiting for Apple's next announcement if OLED, touch, or the next model's specifications matter to you. Your current laptop needs to last until any announced replacement becomes available.
The listed Oct 26 to Nov 2 delivery window on Amazon's listing overlaps the Oct 27 announcement timing described in our report story, but Apple has not confirmed an announcement. The listing also shows a free 15-day refund or replacement. We do not know when those 15 days start.
Against our 14-inch 2TB deal
Our 14-inch 2TB story reported Amazon at $2,399.00 for the 14-inch M5 Pro with 24GB and 2TB at 6:44 AM ET Oct 12. Keepa's tracker still showed $2,399.00 for it at 4:20 PM ET Oct 13.
These are different machines. Keepa's listing title names a 14.2-inch display with a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU; Amazon's listing names 16.2 inches with an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU here. This one costs $100 more and has half the storage.
In our judgment, take the 14-inch if you need 2TB or a smaller laptop, and this one if you want the larger screen and more cores. Keepa's year chart for the 14-inch also shows it at about $2,340 to $2,400 in May and June.
