Apple says US companies supply titanium for iPhone Duo and camera films for iPhone 18 Pro, and that nearly 100 components across the two phones are American-made. Apple's announcement does not say where the phones are assembled.
iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone. It starts at $1,999 on Apple's order page, which shows availability starting Oct. 23.
Update, Oct. 20: The same release says Apple's Houston, Texas, site, which builds its AI servers, will begin manufacturing Mac mini this year. MacRumors reports Foxconn is expected to build it there. Apple does not name a builder.
What Apple says is US-made
- Titanium for iPhone Duo: Perryman Company melts, forges and rolls it in Houston, Pennsylvania, Apple says. The release describes Duo's grade 5 titanium enclosure and says the titanium has at least 80 percent recycled content.
- Camera films for iPhone 18 Pro: Qnity Electronics, based in Delaware, will produce films for the new variable aperture, which opens wider in dim light and narrower in bright light on the 48MP main camera.
- Cover glass: Corning makes specialty glass in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Apple says all iPhone cover glass, Duo included, will come from there by the end of 2026.
- Chips: TSMC's Arizona fab is making more than 100 million chips for Apple in 2026, per the release. Amkor is building a packaging and test plant in Peoria, Arizona, where Apple will be one of the first customers.
- Radio chips: Broadcom is expanding its Fort Collins, Colorado, site under a $1.5 billion investment, with a multiyear deal for more than 15 billion US-made chips.
- Face ID lasers: Coherent supplies laser technology for Face ID from Sherman, Texas.
What the release leaves out
Apple says nearly 100 components in the two phones come from American companies in more than a dozen states. It also says nothing on where iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro is put together, so treat any claim about final assembly as unconfirmed.
The release does not tie these parts to a specific model's price or availability. Duo costs are covered in our pre-order price story.
Why it matters
A US supplier list is not a "made in USA" phone. Apple's own wording is components and materials, and the biggest unknown is the one it skipped. The question to ask is where final assembly happens, and this release does not answer it.
The Perryman money is a pledge, not a purchase detail. Apple says it will commit up to $100 million over three years with Perryman, as part of its $600 billion, four-year US commitment.
