Samsung's own One UI 9 rollout began on the Galaxy S26 series, and the Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 shipped with it, with other devices to follow gradually, according to Samsung's Sept. 16 announcement. Older phones are now reportedly getting it, per 9to5Google.

Samsung has not announced the S23, Z Fold 5 or A-series rollouts, or any US timing, itself.

Which phones are getting it

  • Galaxy S23 series: live in South Korea about a week ago, now reported in Europe.
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5: rolling out in South Korea and Europe, with more regions expected.
  • Galaxy A series: the A57, A37, A27, A56 and A36 are receiving it.
  • Galaxy A16: stable One UI 9.0 is rolling out for the 4G and 5G models, so far in South Korea only, with other countries expected over the next few days.

The S23 update "should land in the US and other markets any day now," according to the same article. No US date is given. Samsung's US One UI 9 support page lists the devices that ship with it out of the box (Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Flip8, S26 FE) and gives no rollout schedule for older models.

What's in the S23 update

SamMobile reports a download of about 517 MB that appears to have reached beta testers in Europe first. Others are expected to follow. Listed changes:

  • More Quick Panel customization
  • Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes enhancements
  • Improved accessibility features
  • A location privacy indicator
  • New AI features

Why it matters

One UI 9.5 is reportedly unlikely for the S23, so US owners waiting on One UI 9 should not assume a later version follows.
