Reported, not confirmed

Each item below is attributed to its report. We found no Apple confirmation of any of them.

  • Oct. 27 launch: Bloomberg reported an OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro, an M6 14-inch MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac and an OLED iPad mini on or around Oct. 27, as relayed by MacRumors and 9to5Mac. We could not open the Bloomberg article; it returned a bot check.
  • M5 Pro and M5 Max chips: 9to5Mac says the OLED MacBook Pros are "expected to be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max". That is 9to5Mac's expectation. See our MacBook Pro report.
  • Weight: 9to5Mac says "significantly lighter". Bloomberg's Mark Gurman wrote on X that he does not think it will be significantly thinner.
  • OLED iPad mini price: Gurman's Oct. 11 newsletter, via 9to5Mac, says "considerably more expensive", near $799 against $599 now. See our iPad mini report.
  • Los Angeles creator sessions, Oct. 27-28: MacRumors, citing unnamed rumors.
  • Possible Nov. 6 launch: MacRumors's own projection that a launch "could follow as soon as November 6". It also expects new Macs not to ship until November.
  • iOS, iPadOS and macOS 27.2 by about Oct. 30: MacRumors, citing unnamed rumors.

This table is our read, untested: we have not used any of these products. "OLED" and "M6" here mean features that are only reported (a new screen type and a newer chip), with no confirmed price, speed or battery gain. Deal prices are US dollars, as of the date shown, and may have changed.

Why it matters

The trade-off is time against price. The 16-inch MacBook Pro deal lists delivery Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, which overlaps the reported announcement. MacRumors expects new Macs not to ship until November, so if the report is right, waiting could cost weeks. No report names an OLED MacBook Pro price.

Our read, untested: no report lists a change for the Air, Mac mini or the M5 Max Mac Studio, but that is not a guarantee. Apple can also move a date or skip it, and a deal that ends before Oct. 27 is gone either way.

What is not known

  • Whether Apple holds anything on Oct. 27, and in what form.
  • Prices and ship dates for any Oct. 27 product.
  • The exact day the 512GB Mac Studio ships in late October.
  • Whether older MacBook Pro prices fall after a launch.

We will update this page when Apple confirms or denies Oct. 27.
